Started waterfowl hunting with my father and grandfathers at a very young age. It is just a way of life here. Waterfowling and deer hunting are my two favorites, Duck decoys have been part of our lives as well. I feel very lucky to have grown up in a part of the country with so much decoy carving history. In Harford County there was the carvers like John Holly Jimmy Pieace, Madison Mitchell, Paul Gibson, and Charlie Bryan. Here in Cecil County there where Ben Dye, Will Heveron, Leonard Pryor, Bob Litzenberg, Allen Purner. To me these guys are the best of the old time carvers. The tradition is still carried on by carvers such as Pat Vincenti, Charlie Joiner, Jim Augustus, Butch Wagoner, Vernon Bryant and Bill Collins. These men still carve in the upperbay style.

I started carving in the spring of 2009, it just seemed like the logical next step. I am very lucky to live down the road from John Day. He has been the influence behind my carving. Without him I probably would have given up. Getting advice from someone that has won at the worlds is pretty awsome. I enjoy carving gunning birds, round and flat bottom, I have taken a liking to carving cork, and can see myself working with it alot in the future. Besides carving with John, I have spent time carving with Chris Martin, and Greg Clark, these two guys are great carvers and I hope to learn from them as well.
